I am native Oregonian but have lived in other countries and travelled to many others. I work mostly in mixed media, etching, collagraph and pen & ink. There seems to be nothing permanent except change and perhaps that’s what I try to capture more than anything else. Style and subject seem to be somewhat “fluid” in my oeuvre, but for me, there are just too many interesting things and too many ways to express them to be focused.

There have been countless influences on my approach to art. I lived in Mexico and graduated from the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende. The graphic artist Posada and the great muralists Sequieros and Rivera taught me about social commentary. The Mesoamerican cultures taught me about earth bound values. But I was most influenced by Asian art and philosophy. I strive to capture the essence of a subject more than replicating its image. I feel there is a bit of mystery in the simplest of compositions, in the line or shadow that suggests something the viewer must complete.
